So, your heater has decided to stop working. After a long winter of repairs of other issues, you are probably tired of your heater leaving you without a way to stay warm! If you have decided upon heater installation to replace your consistently malfunctioning heater, we here at Air Kool Heat & Air would like to give you a few tips to stay warm until the time comes for us to do the install.
- Be smart and safe. You would be amazed at the “creative” lengths that people go to in order to avoid using their heaters during the winter, some of which are downright dangerous! If you need to stay warm in the winter without your heater, turn to ways that are safe and smart. Use things like sweaters, electric blankets (not for babies or children), careful and safe use of space heaters and the ever-effective opening of the drapes on a sunny day. Please, please do not try methods such as bringing a BBQ grill indoors unless you would like to have a visit with the fire department later on.
- Keep your pipes warm. One of the biggest issues of winter heater installation isn’t keeping you warm, but your pipes that cannot warm themselves. Put a space heater near your pipes or even look at pipe warming wires that will wrap around your pipes to prevent freezing.
- Move out temporarily. If you don’t want to be bothered with chilly weather until professionals can get to your heater installation, consider staying with friends or at a hotel until your appointment day arrives. If you choose this option, please winterize your pipes properly before leaving!
